Iron Chef
Our 1st annual Iron Chef Competition. The winners were the chef’s from The Inn.
Mother's Tea
We did ours in the ‘High Tea’ style, while a harpist played lovely background music.
Egg Launch
With plastic cups, tape, toilet tissue, and whatever else we could find, we bundled up some eggs to be launched. Out of the 12 eggs that were launched by the residents, only 3 survived!
Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo brought on fun with the care associates and other staff performing a SHORT little dance while wearing sombreros. The kitchen cooked some fantastic Mexican food and the meal was completed with a Piñata.
Night Out - Chinese!
We have been taking two dinner outings each month to the restaurant of the resident’s choice. We have so much fun laughing and getting to know each other better. I am constantly going home on these night with belly aches from laughing so hard.
2nd Annual Bean Soup
For the second year in a row we bagged bean soup for the Des Moines area food bank. It is always a fun experience to serve those in need and we enjoy doing the work.
Argosy Cruise
The Inn and The Village took an Argosy Cruise Tour of the Locks this March. The weather (although threatening rain) could not have been better. No fog was on the Sound and we enjoyed learning the history of the Sound, Downtown Seattle, and the Area past the Ballard Locks while eating aboard the ship. It was a fun trip.

A BIG THANKS to our marketing team that allowed me to use their decorations and goodies, it made our party so much more wonderful. Also a BIG THANK YOU to all the family members, you're wonderful and we appreciate you all for your love and caring, whether you were able to come or not! Thank you so much for the opportunity to care for your loved ones! To our wonderful staff that participated and made the evening so much fun for our residents, a BIG Thank You also!
Hawaiian Day
Hawaiian Day Monday, September 14th. For National Assisted Living Week we planned a spirit day every day of the week. Monday was Hawaiian Day. We had so much fun.
Memory Walk
We have never done the Memory Walk before and it was a great experience. This year we earned $888.39.We walked the 5K Memory Walk in Seattle on Saturday, September 12, 2009 with Naomi Sadler and Laura Jenks, from the Life Enrichment Department, as well as three other friends. Our goal next year is to have 25 people walk in our group and to raise $5,000 in funds.
Northwest Trek
The trip to the Northwest Trek was exciting and lots of fun. We started out our day at 8:30 AM and needless to say everyone was eager to get on the road. The residents were singing and laughing all the way to the Trek. When we arrived at the Trek, we immediately boarded the tram and had an exciting adventure seeing all the different animals as we passed by. Many of the animals were spectacular to behold and the residents were laughing, oohing and aahing as we made our way through the park. We had a leisurely picnic lunch of sandwiches, cookies, orange slices, chips and soda/juice. We then decided we had to have a group photo which we took in front of the entrance. Then we boarded our bus and drove back home. The residents were talking about this trip for several days afterwards and still had huge smiles on their faces!
The Inn Goes to the Mariners Game
The residents of the Inn at Arbor Village, the Independent Living Building, planned and coordinated a trip to the Mariners Game on Wednesday, September 2, 2009. It was so much fun to attend with them, especially because a couple of the ladies have never been before. Thank Goodness the Mariners won!
